Obituary of Margaret Cairns

Margaret Cairns (nee Kyle) of Assiniboia, SK and formerly of Coronach, SK, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Assiniboia Union Hospital Long Term Care at the age of 89 years. Margaret was born in Bengough, SK on July 8, 1932, the eldest child of William and Maude (nee Thames) Kyle. She grew up on the farm in Buffalo Gap near Big Beaver, SK and attended St. Jerome school.  On June 28, 1952, Margaret married Arthur Cairns. They made their home on the farm in the Coronach district, raising four children: Brian, Brenda, Virgil and Rick. Margaret enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing, crocheting and quilting. Gifting each of her family with beautiful handmade quilts and afghans. Many wonderful memories were made traveling with her family to Scotland, the Maritimes and Australia. Margaret was overjoyed to be a grandma and great-grandma and they were the love of her life.  In 1990 Margaret and Art sold the farm to their son Rick and moved to Coronach. They later relocated to Moose Jaw and in August of 2020, Margaret moved to Long Term Care in Assiniboia. Margaret will be forever cherished by her family and friends. Margaret is survived by her husband Arthur; daughter Brenda (Rick) Beattie, grandson Mark (Jackie), great-grandson Ellis; son Virgil (Lisa) Cairns, grandson Robert, granddaughter Emily (Vaughn); son Rick Cairns, granddaughter Shona (Wade) Gyug, great-granddaughter Kinsley, granddaughter Lindy; daughter-in-law Colleen Cairns, granddaughter Heather (Ryan) Willman, great-grandchildren, Wes, Sara, Reed, grandson Jarad; brothers John Andersen, Peter Andersen (Debbie Brooker), sisters Barb Smith, Sharon (Wayne) Blatchford.  Predeceased by her son Brian Cairns (2021); grandson Curtis Beattie (2005);  great-granddaughter Eloise Beattie (2018): siblings Jim Kyle, George Kyle, sister Joyce (Roy) Powell, sister-in-law Carol Andersen and brother-in-law Walter Smith.
