Obituary of Elaine Sawchuk
Elizabeth Elaine (Baron) Sawchuk was born on August 25, 1941, at Kincaid, Saskatchewan. Elaine was the oldest of six children born to Ferdinand (Fred) and Etta (Wells) Baron. She attended school in Mankota and McCord and enjoyed growing up in the districts. After her schooling, she worked for various families in the area doing housekeeping and childcare. On September 26, 1959, she married Harry Sawchuk at St. Mary’s Church south of Glentworth. After their marriage, they resided on the family farm south of Glentworth. They were blessed with two sons, Larry and Wayne. Elaine resided in Rockglen, Moose Jaw and then finally moved to Gravelbourg. Elaine had a soft gentle soul and loved animals and children. She loved the company of her family, especially her three grandchildren. They always brought a sparkle to her eye and a smile to her face. Grandma always gave the best hugs. Elaine passed away suddenly on Friday, January 14, 2022 at the Foyer D’Youville in Gravelbourg, at the age of 80 years. Elaine is survived by her son Larry Sawchuk; son Wayne (Erin) Sawchuk and their children Averie, Seth & Elexa; sister Kay Krause; aunt Willa Gavelin; niece Sandra and Lawrence Nelson and family; numerous cousins. Predeceased by her parents Fred and Etta Baron, siblings Raymond, Shirley, Dorothy and Jacob; brother-in-law Mervin Krause. Graveside Funeral Service was held on Saturday, January 22, 2022, 1:00 pm, at the Calvary United Cemetery, Mankota, SK. Officiant was Sam Hawkins. Words of remembrance by Wayne Sawchuk, Averie Sawchuk, and Elexa Sawchuk. Pallbearers were Wayne Sawchuk, Earl Baron, Marc Berthelot, and Payten Schwartz. Memorial donations in memory of Elain to the Foyer d’Youville Foundation, Box 810, Gravelbourg, SK S0H 1X0 are greatly appreciated.
