Obituary of Louise Boisvert
It is with great sadness, the family of Louise Boisvert, announce her passing on December 18, 2013, at the age of 89, in Gravelbourg, Sask.
Louise Alice Boisvert, was born in Regina October 10, 1924. She was raised by her parents Paul and Marie Campagne on the family farm north east of St. Victor, Saskatchewan, along with her only sibling Emile. As a young girl, she loved the farm especially her long rides on her horse. She was a real ‘tomboy’ and worked equally hard outside the home as well as helped with the huge meals needed to feed the hired hands during the harvest.
On October 26, 1948, she married Simeon ‘Sam’ Boisvert and together operated a farm five miles north of Willow Bunch until 1977 when they retired to Willow Bunch. Louise was a woman who persevered in the face of adversity and accepted the challenges she faced on the farm with hope, optimism and a sense of humour. She lived the traditional values of family, church, community and hard work. She was an avid gardener, baker (we all loved those buns) she loved her flowers and of course quilting. She was a member of the Ladies of the Parish, Association des femmes canadiennes-françaises, Ladies Golf Club, Legion Auxiliary, Community Choir, Parish Council, School Trustee and Tourism Committee. She was instrumental in establishing the Association canadienne-française de Willow Bunch in 1993 which founded the ‘Francophones de Talle des Saules. She was one of the founding members of the Willow Bunch Museum and served as custodian for many years.
She gave her time freely to anyone who needed her help and volunteered whenever asked. She would spend many afternoons visiting the shut-ins and elderly. Louise had a great zest for life. Her door was always open to friends and family. Music, laughter and of course lots of singing was the norm in her home. Louise loved her family deeply and her thoughts were always for them. She was an inspiration, and beautiful memories of her life will always be cherished. Mom will be deeply missed.
