Obituary of Clay LONGWORTH

Clay Joseph Longworth of Lafleche, SK, sadly passed away on December 20, 2013, at the age of 30 years. Clay was born in Lafleche on December 31, 1982, the youngest of Rick and Wanda (nee Empey) Longworth’s three children. He attended Mathieu Elementary School and Lafleche Central School. While growing up he enjoyed playing hockey and baseball. In the summertime he took swimming lessons at Thomson Lake and spent time at Camp Lemieux and the SCYP Co-op Camp. Clay took his first and second year welding apprenticeship at SAIT in Calgary. He was most recently employed with Robichaud Cones & Floors at Wood Mountain. Clay lived life to the extreme; he loved hard, played hard and worked hard. Clay had a big, soft heart and was wonderful with children. He loved spending time with his niece Avery and nephew Oakley. They enjoyed jumping on the trampoline together and playing video games for hours, oblivious to the age difference. Clay was a kind person, an amazing friend; he was fiercely loyal and always took the time to help his friends when they needed a hand. His beautiful smile could brighten any room. Clay had a deep love for animals, and a special affection for his dog, Willis. Together, they truly defined the saying that a dog is a man’s best friend, and they were nearly inseparable. Clay will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and memories of him will be always treasured. Clay is survived by his parents Rick and Wanda Longworth; brother Tommy, niece Avery; sister Tammy, nephew Oakley; grandmother Dorothy Longworth; several aunts, uncles and cousins; special dog and companion Willis. Predeceased by his grandparents Art and Eileen Empey; grandfather Harry Longworth; aunt and godmother Audrey Empey. Funeral Service was held on Friday, December 27, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., at Ste Radegonde Roman Catholic Church, Lafleche, with Reverend Linda Tomlinson-Seebach officiant. Urn bearers were Clay’s family. The power point of Clay’s life was presented by Sandy Anderson. Special song "How Great Thou Art” was sung by Pete Couture. The eulogy was shared by Tommy Longworth and Tammy Longworth. Memorial candles were lit by Rod Empey, Wanda Longworth, Linda Tomlinson-Seebach, Rick Longworth and Oakley Wheeler. An honour guard was formed by Clay’s friends. Interment took place at the Woodrow Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Clay to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals "S.P.C.A.” Box 37, Saskatoon, SK S7K 3K1, were greatly appreciated.
