Obituary of Doris McLean
Doris McLean, of the Fir Mountain district, SK, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013, at the age of 87 years. Doris, daughter of George and Daisy Olliver, was born on her family farm on April 10, 1926. She went to school at Gwendella, which was a half a mile east of the farm. Doris went on her first date with Dennis McLean on Valentine’s Day in 1942. They were married on March 14, 1946, and were blessed with four children, Sharlene, Dwayne, Novella and Grant. Doris took great pride in raising her family, working in the field with Dennis, and tending to her garden and flowers. Doris loved to cook, and lived to prepare a feast for her family and friends. She showed her love through food, and there wasn’t anyone who went to her house that left without being fed. Her grandchildren all have countless memories of pizza parties, chocolate fondues and homemade slush, and she would often be called when advice on cooking was needed. Doris will be dearly missed and memories of her will always be treasured by her family and friends. Doris is survived by her daughter Sharlene (Jim) Myers, granddaughter Andrea (Trevor) Insley, great grandchildren Bethany, Jadyn, Ashlyn, grandson Aaron Myers (Jillian Barkwell); son Dwayne (Alice) McLean, grandson Oran (Tracy), great grandchildren Hayley, Brenna, Austin, grandson Bryce (Lori), great grandchildren Colby, Crystal; daughter Novella Harden (Fred Nelson), grandson Jeremy (Dena Clark), granddaughter Trista (Steve) Dowling, great grandchildren Rylie, Landon, grandson Josh (Jamie), great grandchildren Hunter, Tyke, grandson Colter; son Grant (Tammy) McLean, granddaughters Kyla (Leelan Knoss), Shelby (Jesse Greffard), Dakota; brothers Ron (Isabel), Tom (Lucille); sister Florence. Predeceased by her husband of 66 years Dennis (2012); parents George and Daisy (nee Wilkins) Olliver; siblings George, Eric, Gladys and Beatrice. Memorial Service was held on Monday, December 30, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., at the Fir Mountain Hall, Fir Mountain, SK, with Todd Moroz and Lionel Moffatt officiants.
