Obituary of Dwaine Rasmussen

It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Dwaine Malcolm Rasmussen, in the Assiniboia Union Hospital on October 10, 2022. Dwaine was born on September 14, 1956. He and his wife Kathy farmed south of Assiniboia for over forty years before “retiring” in town and beginning a second career in the trucking industry.

Dwaine enjoyed helping Kathy with many celebratory meals in their new sunroom, attending the grandchildren’s sporting and music events, building and fixing in the garage with his grandsons by his side, and travelling with family and friends. He and Kathy travelled to Mexico and Hawaii with their family and had other excursions to Spain, Puerto Rico, and the British Virgin Islands. Dwaine truly loved his time with family and friends.

Dwaine was predeceased by his father Gerald and his loving brother Ricky, his father and mother-in-law Robert and Marguerite Payant and sister-in-law Joan Payant. Dwaine will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife of nearly 48 years Kathy (nee Payant), his children Karli (Ellen) of Regina, and their family Tyler, Kendal, Sophia and Carlos; Nicci of Taber, AB; Joel (Raegan) and their children Mason, Nate and Owen of Assiniboia, SK; and Ryan (Aleesha) of Houston, TX and their children Zander and Isla. He is also survived by his mother Bonnie and brother Kevin (Adora), in-laws Robbie Oancia; Barry and Layne Payant; Danny and Liz-ann Payant; Jodi Payant; and Grant and Debbie Payant along with many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the St. George Parish Hall on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.

In honour of Dwaine and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to STARS Air Ambulance 2640 Airport Road Regina, SK S4W 1A3.
