Obituary of Bernard Barsalou

Bernard Barsalou of Gravelbourg, SK passed away on February 5, 2017, at the age of 64 years. Bernie was born on August 5, 1952. He attended school in Meyronne and then Gravelbourg. He took welding classes at L’École des Arts et Métiers, which was at Collège Mathieu in Gravelbourg, and developed quite an aptitude and love for fixing things. Bernie liked rock and roll music, and his idol was Elvis Presley. He enjoyed watching documentaries on the history channel. For several years, Bernie helped deliver groceries for LeBlanc’s Red and White store, and did yard work. He also had a shop at his home to repair televisions, radios, and cassette players. Bernie didn't have an easy life, but he always made the most of it. Bernie was quick to offer his hand to shake yours and always had a warm greeting or words of thanks. He had a great deal of spirit and touched the lives of many in his own way. Bernie’s mother, Laura Barsalou, passed away on April 24, 1995. Bernie will be dearly missed. Funeral Service was held on Thursday, February 9, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., at Piché-Hawkins-Grondin Funeral Chapel, Gravelbourg, SK. Scripture readings were read by Rhéanne Piché. The eulogy was shared by Dianne Parent. Urn bearer was Gerald LeBlanc. Interment took place at the Gravelbourg Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Bernie to St. Joseph Hospital Foundation and the Gravelbourg Food Bank were greatly appreciated.
