Obituary of Marcel Thibault

Marcel Thibault passed away at Cypress Regional Hospital, on December 3, 2017, at the age of 81. Marcel was born at home on November 16, 1936, in the Ponteix district. Marcel went to various schools in the area. It was while attending College Mathieu that Marcel discovered his love for mechanics. He completed his journeyman heavy duty mechanic's in Moose Jaw. He worked for Carignan Motors, Stringer Garage and Girardin Implements in Ponteix. It was while attending a social gathering, Marcel, met the love of his life, Yvonne Bouffard. They were married April 3, 1961, in Ferland. Marcel and Yvonne made their home in Ponteix. Marcel and Yvonne built their dream home, on Centre Street, that they personally constructed and finished. They also had an acreage on the outskirts of town, where they built a quonset and a shop, where Marcel spent time restoring antique cars and tractors. He had a great love for tools and was able to repair anything from a wristwatch to a diesel engine. Yvonne fondly referred to him as" Mr. Fix It". He was very active in the community. He was a Fire Brigade Chief, a Town Councillor, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a director of the Ponteix Housing Limited (Manor). He also enjoyed fishing with friends in his retirement years. Marcel is survived by his family; wife Yvonne (nee Bouffard); sister Claire Schaff, Rita Forget, Helene Burnay, Irene (Hugh) McDonough; brothers Leo (Yolande) Thibault, Patrick (Eunice) Thibault. Also survived by Yvonne's family, brother-in-law Joe Bouffard; sisters-in-law Louisa Lacasse, Monique (Bob) Marciszyn, Doris Hunter, Claudette (Elphie) Bouvier, Jeannine (Guy) Lemire, Angele (Paul) Lewans and many numerous nieces and nephews He is predeceased by his parents Alfred and Marie Anna (nee St. Cyr) Thibault; brother Laurent (Alma) Thibault; brothers-in-law Leo Schaff, Willie Forget, Roy Burnay. His mother-in-law Antonia (nee Bouvier) and father-in-law Ephren Bouffard; brothers-in-law Paul Emile Lacasse, Leonard Bouffard, Adrien Bouffard, Earl Hunter; sisters-in-law Pierrette (Ernie) Douville, Delores Bouffard. Prayers were held on Friday, December 8th, 2017, 7:30 p.m., and the Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, December 9th, 2017, 1:00 p.m. both at Notre Dame d'Auvergne Catholic Parish in Ponteix, SK, with Father Guy Amedee Ainemon celebrant. Cross Bearer was Elphie Bouvier. Readers were Edna Lacasse-Corcoran and Annette Klevgaard. Offertory Gifts were presented by Claudette Bouvier and Helene Burnay. Vocalists were Diane Lacasse and Claudette Bouvier accompanied by Daniel Roberge. Eulogist was Hugh McDonough. Pallbearers were Paul Burnay, Sheldon McDonough, Richard Thibault, Murray Thibault, Real Bouffard, Gille Douville. Honour Guard was formed by the Knights of Columbus. Interment Notre Dame d'Auvergne Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in Marcel's memory to Lung Association of Saskatchewan, the Canadian Diabetes Association of Saskatchewan, the Notre Dame d'Auvergne Organ Fund and mass intentions were greatly appreciated.
