Obituary of Jeanne Beauregard

Jeanne Beauregard, troisième des dix enfants d’Arthur Beauregard et Bertha Beaubien, a fait ses études au Collège Thévenet, le couvent des Sœurs de Jésus-Marie à Gravelbourg. Ses études terminées, elle est devenue caissière à la Banque Toronto Dominion en 1942. En 1950, elle a été embauchée par Dumont Lepage; il sera son patron pour les 22 prochaines années. D’abord, elle a été secrétaire de la Municipalité rurale de Gravelbourg et à la Caisse populaire française de la ville. En 1956, elle a débuté une longue association avec CFRG, poste de radio française du Sud de la Saskatchewan, comme secrétaire, réceptionniste, commis, technicienne et animatrice. Il lui arrivait souvent d’animer l’émission du matin puis de rentrer à nouveau en fin de soirée pour la fermeture de la station. Elle a même assumée le poste de directrice de la station pour quelques mois en 1972. Lorsque CFRG a été vendu à Radio-Canada en 1973, elle n’a pas voulu déménager à Regina. Elle est donc passée au service du Collège Mathieu de Gravelbourg comme secrétaire et économe. Pendant plus de vingt ans, elle a consacré sa vie au Collège Mathieu ou elle passait de longues heures et prenait toujours le temps de parler aux jeunes. Même après sa retraite, elle a continué à se dévouer pour le Collège, tant à la bibliothèque qu’aux affaires de l’Amicale. Elle s’est également impliquée dans les affaires de la communauté francophone de Gravelbourg, que ce soit pour l’ACFC locale, le Centre culturel Maillard ou le diocèse. En guise de reconnaissance pour maintes années de service à la communauté, l’Association communautaire francophone de Gravelbourg lui a remit un prix hommage en 1998. La communauté fransaskoise se doit de se souvenir de la grande contribution de cette dame qui s’est totalement dévouée à la cause du français et de la francophonie en Saskatchewan. Jeanne Victoria Beauregard of Gravelbourg, SK, third of ten children, was born on May 24th, 1920, near Scout Lake to Arthur and Bertha (nee Beaubien) Beauregard. She passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the age of 93 years. She studied at Collège Thévenet and the Convent of Jesus-Marie in Gravelbourg. After graduating, Jeanne worked as a cashier at the Toronto Dominion Bank in Gravelbourg until 1950, when she was hired by Dumont Lepage, by whom she was employed for the next 22 years. She occupied the position of secretary of the R.M. of Gravelbourg and the francophone Credit Union then, in 1956 began working at the CFRG radio station, where she was the secretary, receptionist and clerk. She even assumed the position of director of the station for a few months in 1972. When the radio station was sold to CBC in 1973, Jeanne chose to remain in Gravelbourg as secretary at Collège Mathieu. For more than twenty years, Jeanne devoted her life to the Collège. She spent long hours there, and always took time to talk to the students. Even after her retirement, she continued to devote her time to the Collège, and worked in the library. In recognition for her many years of service to the fransaskois community, l'Association communautaire fransaskoise de Gravelbourg (ACFG) presented Jeanne with an award in 1998. Jeanne will be remembered as a great contributor to the francophone community in Gravelbourg, as well as throughout Saskatchewan. She will be dearly missed, and fondly remembered by her family and friends. Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Bertha (nee Beaubien) Beauregard; siblings André (Margeretha) Beauregard, Albert (Cécile) Beauregard, Raymond Beauregard o.m.i., Henri Beauregard, Denise (Raoul) Verville; sister Germaine Whyte; and brother-in-law Louis Verville , Jeanne leaves to mourn her passing: sister Marcelle Verville; brothers Roger (Oxana) Beauregard, Georges (Stella) Beauregard; brother-in-law Russell Whyte; sister-in-law Yvette Beauregard; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral, Gravelbourg, SK, with celebrant, Father Joseph Strohhofer and co-celebrant, Father Maurice Minne. Cross bearer was Mélanie Beauchamp. Altar servers were Diane and Cléophas Bouvier. Readings were shared by Renée Bouvier and Janine Bouvier. Intentions were given by Tanya Gillett-Beauregard and Rachelle Bouvier-Freeman. Offertory gifts were presented by Suzanne Reed and Brigitte Verville. Communion minister was Marcelle Verville. Soloist André Moquin was accompanied by Leanne Mann. Urn bearer was Renée Bouvier. Interment took place at the Gravelbourg Roman Catholic Cemetery.
