Bob was the salt of the earth and will truly be missed. He inspired those around him as he faced his long struggles with mobility with fortitude and spirit. He and Joyce both made strangers feel like friends, and friends feel like family with their genuine kindness and natural hospitable nature. I was fortunate enough to see Bob one last time in September at our mutual birthday celebration. We spoke about old times when I was a kid helping with chores and mowing his farm yard. I always enjoyed hearing him talk about the extent to which he had watched, first hand, farming evolve from horses to variable rate. My deepest condolences to his family. May he dwell forever in our hearts.

The Kindt family: Bob, Dale, Allison, & Joyce. This picture was taken in the late 1960’s at the United Church in Assiniboia SK.
My mother (Loretta) took this shot. There’s a few more pictures in this set and it appears that my entire family was here, including me. Everyone was dressed up, we were taking pictures, and Allison is a baby. So it could have been her baptism. Bob & Joyce were also my godparents, so that may have have played a part in the story too.
This isn’t the best photo of Bob or his family, but it’s a good photo of Bob’s generation. It was a time when society had more structure. Sunday’s were special, words meant something, and people would get dressed up just to go to town. Whether the world was a better place, back then, is debatable. But it was definitely more certain. And this was reflected in Bob’s morality, work ethic, and discipline.
We remember people by the way they made us feel and it’s often hard to describe with words. The best word I could use to describe Bob was...classy. Every time I was around him he had this way of making you feel accepted. I was just a dumb hillbilly kid but every time I saw Bob he was always humble, gracious, positive, and happy to see me. Lots of handshakes. He gave me far more respect than I deserved and I suspect he treated everyone with the same reverence.
I learned much later in life, how hard it was to be “classy.” To be a good person and do the right thing. To be graceful, regardless of the hand your dealt. The simple things are always the hardest. And it takes a lifetime to realize they’re also the most important.

I've always had Bob and Joyce in my life, they were such a wonderful influence on me. From building card houses in the living room, naming the cows and butchering chickens (Ok, not my most favourite!). I remember being excited when we turned north on the road, knowing we were headed there. So many memories at the farm. Dale and Allison my deepest sympathies to you. Sending you my love ❤.

Allison, Dale and family. We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad, Grandpa and brother. He was such a wonderful, kind man who left us with great memories. Glen and I snowmobiled to their farm many times and enjoyed Bob and Joyce's great hospitality. I will miss seeing him at Long Term Care and my Mom Victoria will certainly miss him too. They kept track of one another there and always checked up on each other.
May he rest in peace.
