Hi Doris and everyone
Dennis loved his life, his family and friends. May you all have great memories to help you through this difficult time. I have wonderful memories of visiting with you Dennis and your whole family. I will cherish and remember those friendship moments forever. May today be bearable for you all and I hope you can find strength from each other and everyone around you.
Love Eileen

Uncle Dennis
Doris, Sharlene, Dwayne, Novella, Grant, and families;
My thoughts are with you at this time of great loss. I know that at this point you are all most likely exhausted and full of sadness. It is with great regret that the inclement weather has prevented me from coming to Fir Mountain to share in the celebration of Dennis’ life and to acknowledge your sorrow brought on by such a great loss.
I will always have fond memories of Uncle Dennis. Something that stands out for me is the way he was always so concerned with the news of events in the area as well as across Canada and around the world. He loved the telephone, and for the longest time this was his way of finding things out and sharing the news. I truly believe that he was born too soon because he would have loved the speed of the internet and probably would have been a regular participant on Facebook and Twitter. (For all I know, maybe he was!)
Another memory is of how proud Uncle Dennis was of the achievements of local people and he did not hesitate to share the news of their accomplishments. I remember when my sister Tammy and I last visited, we took a road trip. Our first stop was to our dad’s old ranch where he shared some of the history and described missing parts of the building site that had been torn down. (I should also mention the scare he gave Doris, Tammy, and I when he drove to the edge of a steep hill and we thought we were goners!) We then stopped by the Wood Mountain Museum where he enthusiastically pointed out bits of local history that he felt it was important for Tammy and I to know.
I think the biggest and most important memory I have about Uncle Dennis is from when I was a little girl. He always made me feel so SPECIAL and LOVED. I can’t really explain this, he just did. He always had a smile for me, wanted hugs and kisses, and seemed genuinely interested in what was going on in my world. What better gift can a person give to someone else?
Again, I am so sorry to have to miss this opportunity to honour a man who has touched my life in such a kind and caring way. Please know that my thoughts will be with you at 11:00 on October 23 and for some time after.
Love Lisa

Uncle Dennis
When I was a child I was very shy and whenever we went to visit Aunt Doris and Uncle Dennis he would always hold me on his knee and say "are you going to cry for me little girl" and I always did. As I got older I saw the humour in it but he always thought it was funnier than I did. Today I cry for you once again Uncle Dennis, not just for you but for your family because I know the sadness of losing such a wonderful father and grandfather. It was always obvious how much you meant to your family and how much they meant to you.
