Obituary of Arnold KNUTSON

Arnold Knutson November 18, 1921- October 30, 2013 Arnold passed away peacefully in the early morning hours on October 30th at the age of 91. Arnold was born to Martin and Malvina Knutson in the Stockholm area of Saskatchewan; as a young child he moved to the homestead south of Glentworth, SK. Arnold was the third of seven children: Magnar, Erling, Clifford, Martin, Mabel and Kenneth and is survived by his sister Mabel and brother Kenneth, his five children: Alfred (Helen), Vernon (Colleen), Madeline (Ron Cutting), Russell (Glenda), Carmen (Ann); 13 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Arnold was predeceased by Edna, his wife of 67 years, in 2012, and daughter-in-law Victoria Knutson. Arnold grew up on the homestead and became a skilled outdoors-man and a proficient skier, able to travel for miles over otherwise impassable snow. He loved hunting and observing wildlife, and placed a high priority in helping his parents on the homestead and contributing to the family using these skills. Arnold loved farming and raising cattle. He had a passionate dislike for weedy fields or scrawny cows. In 1944 he married his sweetheart and moved to the farm south of Glentworth where they spent their lives together until illness dictated Edna move to a nursing home. Arnold was an avid sportsman and active member of the Glentworth Seniors' Club, competing in the Senior Olympics, in horseshoes and pool. He also won trophies in bowling and in pistol shooting at the Assiniboia Gun Club. Arnold was a faithful Christian and long time member of the Church of Christ. Graveside Interment will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Waverly Cemetery, Glentworth, SK and Funeral Service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Church of Christ, Gravelbourg, SK.
