I worked for Mike and his wife Barb on the ranch. Mike was a kind and caring gentleman. Mike enjoyed ranching and always had a smile. My condolences to the Smith family. - Darlene Achter

To the Smith Family: I went to U Of S with Mike. In fact I was one of the first students to meet him that fall in 1958.
He was a true cattleman through and through. Almost all of the class at one time or another approached Mike for "Cow" advice.
I recall him saying...""The area around our ranch has so few people and farmsites, you need to OWN your own Tomcat".
Shortly after arriving at college, he went downtown and bought a Pink "DeSota" car. My it was a show stopper..Lots of fun times.
Mike was a cowboy, and a true friend. I had a good visit with him once at The Palliser in Swift current, years ago.
My most sincere condolences to his family. He will be misses greatly.
