I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to visit aunt Shirley one more time before she left to be with uncle Pat. During our visit we were reminiscing about the good old days and I told her about our experience going to Eunice’s for lunch. After I told her about our meal she exclaimed “But….did she tell you to bring your own potato…cuz that’s what Pat and I had to do!” I am pretty sure that all of the family can relate to this! Because we lived so far away we only got to visit with our family during the summer when our parents would drop us off at grandma Bowman’s and we spent our time at all of our aunts and uncles. My memories of uncle Pat and aunt Shirley include milking cows, walking miles (all uphill) looking for the horses with just a piece of baler twine to use as a halter, baking cookies and sitting around an open fire with the cousins and friends singing cowboy songs. Those were the Golden Years! Go in peace aunt Shirley knowing that you were loved by all your family and everyone that had the privilege of calling you friend.
