I'm so glad we had a chance to talk on the phone a few weeks ago. She was a cousin who always cheered on our family, even though our times together were sporadic lately. We still cherish the times when she came for supper and a few hours of English tutoring while she was attending the Regina campus. Her go-to for essays had always been written in French so trying for her best marks, she took lessons from Nigel so she could express herself in English grammar better. Her mind was kept busy with world-wide searches for a way to explain the Divine. She loved researching spirituality. We often talked of Jesus together and she said she was going home the last time we talked.
Mariette, you had a hard journey these past years with diabetes and I'm sure you were very tired but your mind never stopped analyzing and seeing the lessons in every experience. God prepares a place for us and we know your heart wanted Him always. We trust we will see you again one day, whole and without any more pain. Safe journey dear cousin. Loved you! Aline, Laurent, Gilbert and Archie, we ache for your loss. As Claudette our cousin said, the loss of two siblings passing in months from one another is very hard. Thinking of you all.
